About Me

Welcome! I am a Yorkshire-based artist with a passion for printmaking, process, and material experimentation. My work is firmly rooted in a fascination with un-seen, overlooked and in-between places, and I aim to ignite a sense of curiosity and wonder in the viewer.

Alongside my studio practice, my career as a printmaking technician and tutor intertwines and informs my work. I specialise in etching, lithography and woodcut, ever-hungry to learn and develop new printmaking processes.

Stunning work by students on the Mokulito course I ran a few weekend ago @hotbedpress. Mokulito is a type of printmaking which takes the principles of lithography (grease and water repelling each other) and applies it to a wood surface - basically lithography on wood. I Love this versatile printmaking technique and these lovely folks took to it quickly and made prints which just blew me away! 😎 Following on from my last reel, here's the printed result from the mokulito example block I made last week. (No exciting print reveal video I'm afraid as it was for a course I was teaching and I didn't have a spare hand to film as well as print!) Not intended to be a masterpiece, but a reference print for how different litho drawing materials work, and I know some of you were interested in how it turned out. This was on poplar plywood, which has quite an open grain. It printed really well and I got about 7 or 8 prints from it and could have got a lot more. Prepping a demo Mokulito (wood lithography) block for the course I'm teaching tomorrow @hotbedpress. Thought I'd film the process, both to test my camera's close-up capabilities, and to share the wonderful tactile nature of making marks on a wood surface. Happy #worldbookday!
